On a September weekend after the school year started, this hotel was hopping. The vibrant atrium bustled with convention-goers, family vacationers and Cornhusker fans decked head-to-toe in red. The lobby below the seven-story atrium offers plenty of seating and a daily buffet with fruit, cereal, meat and made-to-order eggs, pancakes and waffles. Nightly manager receptions also include drinks and light appetizers.
The 257 suites include microwaves, refrigerators and a wet bar, which make it easy to have light meals in your room. Each includes a sitting area with a flat-screen TV and separate bedrooms and bath with fragrant Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. Beds are comfy with soft pillows, and rooms overlook the southern edge of Omaha along Interstate-80 near Cabela’s and other retail shopping. It’s a good midpoint for a getaway to downtown attractions, such as Old Market or Mahoney State Park, and other attractions at Exit 426.
Internet isn’t included in room rates, but you can connect wirelessly in the lobby or at Caffeina’s Internet Cafe, which sells Starbucks coffee, breakfast items, snacks and to-go lunch boxes. The restaurant and bar, La Vista Nines, serves a Thai salad, lobster mac-and-cheese, grilled salmon BLT, chipotle hummus wrap, Mardi Gras pasta with shrimp and Andouille sausage, plus steaks ($8-$25).
Rates start at $129.
