When it comes to authentic Italian cuisine, Verdoni’s is the real deal. The wood-fired pizzas can be garnished with endless permutations of fresh toppings, cheeses and meats and have been drawing crowds since the eatery opened in Muskegon’s Norton Shores area in 2011.
The pizzas are a steal starting at $12.99 for a 12-inch pie, but Mondays are the best time to go when the 2 for $20 special is in effect: two entrees (pizzas and select pastas included) and a house salad large enough for two people to share. Speaking of salads, Verdoni's goes way above and beyond boring old iceberg lettuce. The Caprese ($8.99) features imported mozzarella, farm-fresh tomatoes and arugula with a delicious aged balsamic dressing; the panzanella ($9.99) makes tasty use of cubed ciabatta with roasted tomatoes, white beans and crispy Brussels sprouts. The waitstaff is helpful, knowledgeable and goes out of their way to make guests feel welcome (even if you’re just stopping in to pick up a carry-out order).
