In a historic brick home just off the main drag in the trendy Oregon District, this Italian-theme bed-and-breakfast doesn't offer all the usual B&B perks. Breakfast consists of fruit, coffee and DIY items such as toast and bagels, for example. And the conditions are not exactly four-star; while lounging in the living room, visitors may find their relaxation interrupted by the loud buzzing of the dryer in the adjoining hallway. But Port D'Vino owner Leslie Gonyanya makes up for these surface deficits with a warm welcome and just the right amount of attention throughout her patrons' stays. Plus, there's the wine bar. Leslie and her husband spent years wrangling a liquor license for the inn, finally opening Deaf Monty's Wine in 2011. The lobby bar features four or five stools, a selection of wines for sale by the bottle or glass, and a small overflow room with cafe tables. It's become a sort of gathering spot for locals. Pop in during the short window of service (4-8 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday) for great intel from the people who know Dayton best.
