Butter Cafe

Editor's Review
Butter Cafe brims with girly appeal. The butter-yellow dining room is lit by a chandelier and softly glowing white hanging lamps, and Francophile art adorns the walls. White Christmas lights and a vintage glass-front cooler with pastries complete the dollhouse vibe. The space is small, but on a weekday morning visitors can have their choice of tables (possibly because the University of Dayton students who usually make up the clientele at this campus-area restaurant are in bed or at class). The adorable breakfast and lunch spot serves dishes featuring locavore favorites, such as organic butter, free-range eggs and Ohio-grown veggies. Even with a small kitchen, meals arrive relatively fast. French toast kabobs—skewered Texas toast paired with warm grilled strawberries and pineapple—highlight a breakfast menu that also includes jelly donut pancakes and vegan butter.
