Two entrees were chicken breast plate ($24) with a browned and salted crust, atop a wafer-thin morel slices, and carrot puree with a pleasant jalapeno 'kick.' After eight hours of cooking, braised beef short ribs ($25) were ultra-tender. A few melt-in-your mouth potato gnocchi bathed in bacon-accented sauce, while two light-as-air onion rings topped the meat. Unusual and fabulous German chocolate cake ($8) featured exceptionally dark cake layered with mousse and enrobed in dark chocolate. fried strawberry pie ($7) was a delightful fried sugar-dusted pocket of dough filled with strawberries, and a lemon curd ice cream topper.
