Editor's Review

Come for the cheesy, topping-filled pizzas and not for the atmosphere at this dive of a restaurant in the Kansas City suburb of Raytown.

Fun House Pizza was opened in 1964 by a couple named Martie and Helen Graham. The restaurant is still family-owned and operated and now has four locations in Missouri, but the Raytown location is the original. The "Fun House" name refers to the game room featuring classics like Pac Man and pinball. Be warned that this place isn't fancy. It's dark and smoky, and some seats are low wooden stools with no backing. But the food is good. We especially enjoyed the 9-inch combination pizza ($11.38), offering large, thin slices of salami, spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives and ground beef. There's one kind of crust here, and it's thick, but also flavorful. One small pizza and an appetizer is plenty of food for two. In addition to the food, the service was also excellent. It's a counter-service establishment, but when it comes to the items on the menu, Fun House delivers.
