Imo's Pizza is a popular St. Louis-area chain that's been around since 1964, when Ed and Margie Imo opened their first pizza parlor. Today, Imo's has more than 90 stores. Imo's is particularly known for its St. Louis-style pizza, which features an extra-thin crust and Provel cheese, which has a more distinctive flavor and stick-to-your-ribs gooeyness than regular mozzarella. This location is one of a few to offer dine-in service in addition to delivery. If you're looking for atmosphere, we recommend ordering in to your living room rather than driving out to this somewhat lifeless area of downtown. We tried the garlic bread with cheese as an appetizer ($2.95 for eight pieces) and found the bread a bit bland with only the slightest hint of garlic. The pizzas we ordered (a 10-inch pepperoni for $8.65 and a 10-inch deluxe with sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and bacon for $11.80) came out nice and hot. We found the cheese to be a bit overpowering on both, but the signature thin crust was done just right.
