Divvy is capitalizing on the current small plate trend with a motto of "Sip. Share. Savor." On prime corner real estate in the ritzy new Carmel City Center, finding the correct entrance is challenging and the vast menu overwhelms at first glance, but once diners get their bearings, they're in for some great food and drink.
Selections are “divvied” into categories covering everything from cheese and tidbits to red meat, fowl, seafood and dessert, each section with a dozen or so small plates to choose from. (Vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free guests are not neglected; a slew of diet-appropriate items are on the menu.) The salty-sweet bacon jam ($5) and a jalapeno-laced corn creme brulee ($6) are fantastic; the spreadable Gorgonzola balls ($8) and Worchestershire-seared steak bites ($12) also tasty, but not quite as impressive. Desserts include "sharable sugars" in the range of $10 to $12 and "mini-morsels" for $3 and $4 a pop. Powdered sugar biscuit beignets seem popular, and the yummy Dreamsicle cake with blood orange puree calls to mind a fruity tres leches.
A fun destination for date night or girls' night out, Divvy is open for lunch and dinner. Leave the kiddos at home, though, this establishment is strictly 21 and up. Full bar service includes signature cocktails, wine, local craft beer and flight samplers.
