To get a sense for the Sight and Sound Theater, imagine your average church Christmas pageant, amplified with the power of several Broadway shows firing in tandem. At Sight and Sound, Biblical stories come to vivid life in a 2,000-seat theater featuring a sweep of three stages (300 feet across altogether) filled throughout each show with massive sets and streams of live animals. In stories about Christ's birth, Joseph's rise to power or Noah's floating zoo, audience members may find a Roman centurion riding inches past their shoulder on a white horse or a camel making its way up to the stage. Angels fly overhead with blazing swords, and spectators often struggle to tell which animals on-stage are real and which are animatronic. The productions are top-notch, filled with professional acting and musical numbers and high-tech lighting and effects that make for a vivid theatrical experience. Note that the shows are unapologetically evangelical Christian in tone. You can count on plenty of prayer and friendly attendants willing to talk to you about Jesus. But at a theater dedicated to bringing the Bible to life, no one seems to mind.
