From pizza pie to apple pie, there's no lack of creativity at this upscale pizzeria in Columbus' historic German Village. Open since 2011, Harvest Pizzeria has been earning well-deserved raves for its use of locally sourced farm-fresh ingredients. Pizza choices include the Spicy Yuma featuring chipotle-spiked tomato sauce, chorizo, gouda cheese, roasted red peppers, corn and jalapenos ($14) and the Almond Pesto pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, kale and artichokes ($12). A gas/wood hybrid oven cooks the 11-inch pies to a perfect crispness.
Small plates like roasted red pepper hummus ($5) and Hudson Valley foie gras with Riesling-poached pear preserves ($14) shine. Or try a fresh salad such as the arugula ($9, half portion for $4.50) that pairs peppery greens with fresh ricotta, Ohio bacon, roasted red onion and toasted pumpkin seeds. And save room for a changing selection of freshly baked pies ($8 a la mode). Wine by the glass or bottle is available, as are local beers and creative cocktails.
Housed in a charming German Village-style cottage, the 10-table restaurant also has a brick-paved patio in front for al fresco dining. A recent expansion into the cottage next door added bar, dining and patio space to alleviate the often two-hour wait for a table on the weekends.
