Midwest Living Recommends
With trendy decor and delicious American food (including gluten-free options), Baker Street makes a swanky stop for lunch or dinner.

Full of dark wood and exposed brick with an eye-catching wine display along the back wall, Baker Street is casual in atmosphere, yet upscale enough for a dinner date, business lunch or refueling with gal pals during the annual Vera Bradley outlet sale at the nearby Coliseum.

Lunch options take in a solid selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, and full-fledged entrees—including the flatbreads, fish tacos and the signature thick-cut onion rings with a remoulade-style dipping sauce. The dinner menu offers a more extensive range of choices with seafood, pastas, chicken and steaks with a tempting list of add-ons like Bordelaise sauce, shrimp, mushrooms and a Stilton glaze. Price points average $20-$35 for most dinner entrees, certainly reasonable value for food of this caliber.

For liquid refreshment, Baker Street boasts a respectable wine and martini list, as well as craft beers and single-malt scotch selections. Also worth noting, the restaurant presents an impressive gluten-free menu with choices like sesame-crusted tuna sashimi, chopped salad, flatbreads, twin lobster tails, a peppercorn cabernet filet mignon and even gluten-free bread. Diners with dietary restrictions won't feel slighted in the least. There's a kids' menu, too, but little ones might feel a little out of place here.
