Samuel's Place, located in the tiny town of New Harmony, is an Italian eatery specializing in pizza and pasta. The service is friendly, and the owners have tried to overcome the generic strip mall atmosphere with touches like artificial ivy arbors. Be sure to order the garlic cheese bread, a warm flatbread topped with garlic and melted cheese, served with a side of melted butter for dipping ($6 for a small order or $10 for a large order). Kids will love the entree options, such as the specialty spaghetti and meatballs ($10) and pizza flavors like the BLT. Adults, however, might crave a bit more sophistication. On our recent visit, the kitchen was out of meatballs, and the marinara sauce tasted flat. We also tried the peanut butter pizza out of curiosity, and then wished we hadn't.
