The Wilderness is the campground extension of the Silver Dollar City and Herschend Entertainment empire that stretches across Branson with attractions such as Silver Dollar City, the Showboat Branson Belle and Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. Located on a quiet highway near SDC and the Table Rock Lake marina, the Wilderness offers a peaceful, shaded location perfect for both RV campers and travelers who prefer sleeping under a roof. The campground offers free five-minute shuttle rides to SDC, and most of Branson's attractions are about 10 minutes away. The stars at the Wilderness are the 39 log cabins, each crafted by the master woodsman at SDC. Cabins range from a single rustic ($121 a night; no running water) that's surprisingly popular, to fully modern cabins with baths and kitchens ($188 a night). Most of the cabins back up to thick woods where deer, turkeys and armadillos frequently wander by. The RV sites (starting at $26) are well-spaced and outfitted with necessary amenities, such as electrical and water hookups. Guests without trailers can stay in one of four rental RVs that stay on-site. The campers' bathrooms are as sharp as we've seen -- designed with tile walls and floors and kept spotless during our visit. The camp store provides a food selection to match small grocery stores, along with gift items, a laundry room and a game room outfitted with pool tables and video games.
