Grab a sandwich while catching a game in this sports bar filled with memorabilia from legendary athletes -- especially hometown hero and Boston Celtics player Larry Bird.
The conversation starters are everywhere in this downtown French Lick sports bar that's mostly dedicated to Larry Bird, the affectionately dubbed "Hick from French Lick." Byrd--who wore No. 33 on his jersey -- led the Boston Celtics' success from 1987 to 1992, when he also helped the United States win Olympic gold in professional basketball. Byrd's golden basketball awards and trophies fill a double-decker glass case separating the bar from the restaurant. Diners can order The Bird, a popular grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese. The restaurant also is known for its burgers and homemade soups, such as tomato bisque with dense, crunchy croutons and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Sandwiches come with a heap of homemade kettle-style potato chips. If you just have the munchies, plow into a pile of potato chips slathered with Philly-style beef, peppers, onions and a creamy sauce. Take your time and enjoy the collectibles on the walls, including a signed Joe Montana football jersey and a guitar autographed by Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson.
