Leland was a sleepy fishing port in 1927 when this restaurant opened for business and began building its legend as the ultimate eatery for Lake Michigan whitefish.
By far, the star of the menu at this downtown restaurant is whitefish fresh from the nets of Carlson's Fishery, just a few steps west in what is now one of the region's most popular small resort towns. But in the generally packed dining room and bar, waitresses also serve up fresh perch, bluegill, walleye and smelts. Entrees from $12 to $20.
