Great for baked goods and a light lunch, Radina's is a laid-back, upscale retreat near the Kansas State University campus.
On the quiet edge of Aggieville's bar scene, locally owned Radina's Coffeehouse and Roastery caters to students, professors, business people and parents with strollers. On your first visit, you'll need to stand back and read the row of blackboards behind the counter listing tons of coffee concoctions, teas and smoothies, $2 to $5 each. Baristas brew specialty drinks with skill and a smile. Sugary pastries displayed in glass bubble cases start at $2. The plump chocolate eclairs tempt, but so do the scones (raisin is the staff favorite). At 11 a.m., the lunch menu kicks in offering tasty ham, tuna salad, turkey, grilled sandwiches and salads starting at $5. Radina's is a comfy place to work on a laptop (free Wi-Fi), to chat with friends or to sink into a couch with a good book. Local artists' work for sale decorates the color-blocked walls. Heady smells of roasting coffee fill the air. Jazz plays softly in the background. Radina's roasts its own coffee beans on-site and sells specialty blends such as Powercat, Duty First and name-brand Radina's ($11 to $12 a pound). Aggieville is one of four Radina's locations in town.
