With seasonal menus and a fresh aesthetic, there is plenty to like about Lucia's.
Lucia's, named after the chef and proprietor Lucia Watson, is an inconspicuous restaurant located in uptown Minneapolis, a neighborhood known to locals simply as Uptown. A mecca for yuppies and hipsters alike, Uptown is the perfect location for Lucia's, with its bright blue canopies hanging over huge plate-glass windows and small tables gracing the wide sidewalk. Inside, fresh flower arrangements accent the crisp white, blue and birchwood decor. The gorgeously simple menu changes weekly but remains focused on seasonal, top-quality Midwestern ingredients prepared with a French flair, such as trout with lemon dill fingerling potatoes and watercress butter, or pan-roasted duck with French green lentils. Lucia's is broken into three sections: the main restaurant, the wine bar and the deli called Lucia's To Go. Although the restaurant offers the full fine-dining experience, it's worth noting that Lucia's To Go is open until 8 p.m., with half price bottles of wine every day after 4:30, making it a reasonable alternative to enjoying Lucia's cuisine without the higher prices in the main dining room. Lucia's also offers brunch on the weekends, but no matter what time you go, remember to make reservations. Also, the parking situation in Uptown is madness, but Lucia's has a valet parking service for $5 -- a steal of a deal. Lucia's servers are courteous and respectful, not asking to clear your plate until you are clearly through with your meal. The casual elegance; the simple, top-quality food and flavor; the courteous staff; the multitude of wine and dine options; the constant evolution of the menu; the fun, funky neighborhood -- all these factors come together to create a unique, pleasurable dining experience.
