Editor's Review

This classic diner features a bigger is better menu with stacked deli sandwiches and freshly baked monster cookies.

West Bay Diner and Delicatessen has a loyal following, and the wait for the food tends to be long. But it's worth it. The menu features coowner Rick Guth's thick deli sandwiches, burgers (a choice of beef or another meat -- buffalo, elk, antelope or venison), fish and chips dinners, and homemade soup. We chose the corned beef sandwich, which was stacked with meat, cheese and sauerkraut ($9.95). The vegetarian couple in the next booth ordered the Mediterranean vegetable soup, which they said was delicious. We took away one of the best lemon cookies we've had; it was thick, moist and so large that it lasted through three coffee breaks. In addition to sun tea, you can sip coffee, espresso and bottled soda.
