Dunes Saloon

Editor's Review
The logging-era tavern is a friendly place with a long bar in the original, high-ceilinged front saloon and a back dining room with a view of the Lake Superior Brewing tanks. The decor includes knotty pine walls, wood-covered ceiling, mounted animal heads and stained glass from the town's Agate Lady. A seasonal specialty is the fresh-caught Lake Superior whitefish; we had it in a basket, beer battered, and served with fries and homemade tartar sauce ($10.25). It was light, not greasy, and tasty. House microbrews from the attached Lake Superior Brewing Company include Granite Brown, Hematite Stout, Puddingstone Wheat, Cabin Fever and Blueberry Wheat. They also make cream soda and root beer.
