This new, well-designed venue is an ideal place to catch a soccer game or a concert.
Opened in June 2011, this shiny $200 million stadium, home to Sporting Kansas City (the pro soccer team) offers amazing comfort and amenities. American soccer fans have never had it so good, but it's not all just for soccer fans: Concerts and special events are held here, too. Nestled in the Legends entertainment area, where visitors can shop at nearby outlet stores, dine at nationally known chain restaurants and people-watch for hours, it also offers an accessible location. In Livestrong Sporting Park, incredible design is on display throughout -- no steep stairs to the upper seats or narrow, twisting pathways. This stadium is highly user-friendly, with wide, sweeping walkways and stairways that are easy to navigate. Generous, arching canopies stretch overhead, covering every seat. LED digital boards, located above the South Stand, include the largest HD video board in the world, measuring at 25 feet by 84 feet. And perhaps best of all, parking in the lots is free. Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation gives its name to the park, and a portion from all park proceeds go to the charity. There's even a bright yellow chair tucked into the stands --Lance's chair. For each game, someone affected by cancer gets to sit in that seat of honor. A venue that's comfortable and charitable? Definitely worth a visit.
