Right Brain Brewery

Editor's Review
One of the most popular brewpubs in Traverse City’s burgeoning brewpub scene, Right Brain Brewery operates out of cavernous warehouse in an overlooked, industrial part of town. Nonetheless, its new digs—Right Brain moved here in 2012—are drawing a dedicated core of locals. Right Brain has the feel of a local hangout; arcade games and local art scatter among tall tables and random upholstered chairs. There’s even a hair salon, a nod to owner Russell Springsteen’s former life as a barber.
Springsteen and his growing staff brew dozens of beers on site, from pale ales and pilsners to full-bodied stouts and porters. He also creates a number of specialty beers that can run the gamut of intriguing to downright odd. Among them: Fuzz Face Peach Ale, which incorporates a mash of the fuzzy fruit, and Pecan Pie, ale made with actual pie added during the brewing process. What can we say? The man likes to take chances. Considering his success and his loyal clientele, he’s found a winning recipe.
