Expect rustic sophistication and consistently spot-on dishes that embody both simple tradition and elegance.
Located in a charming old lodge-style house in a residential part of Indianapolis, Meridian Restaurant turns up the sophistication on traditional dishes. Inventive touches enhance every menu item, and believe us: The chef here knows what works. The menu boasts a wide range of options, including a Smoked Corn Puree soup, wild boar Bolognese ($21.25) and grilled quail with jalepeno-honey glaze ($10.75). Expect thoughtful flavor combinations and tip-top ingredients, as showcased in their smoked onion BBQ burger ($9.75, only on the lunch menu). Well-seasoned black Angus beef is served on a springy kaiser roll with melted American cheese and just the right touch of barbecue sauce. It was so good. Even when we were full, we kept nibbling on small bites of the meat, just to keep tasting it. The side of fries was tasty, but nothing spectacular. Meridian pays great attention to detail, as seen in the decor as well as their menu and attentive staff. The vaulted wood ceiling contains some of the original logs used to build the home a century ago, and the stone fireplace and rustic chandeliers create a sense of classic comfort. White tablecloths and elegant flatware give it a grown-up vibe, the way a dining-out experience is supposed to feel. Meridian strikes the perfect balance for visitors with its subtle nods to heritage and creative twists on cuisine.
