A certified sommelier guides the sampling at this boutique wine shop and tasting bar.
Owned and operated by the husband and wife team Michelle and Rob Lewis, Lewis Station Winery specializes in premium value wines and has over 200 varieties from around the world, mostly California, but also local wines from Vetro Winery in Concord, Wisconsin. Visitors can enjoy two free samples when they drop in, and Rob is a LeCordon Bleu certified sommelier, so be sure to pick his brain on what you're tasting. (Our picks: an $8.99/bottle German Funf Moscato and a $14.99/bottle Earth, Zin and Fire California Zinfandel.) Engaging and educating visitors is important here, which is nice for novice and experienced tasters alike. Descriptive tags throughout the store explain the wines, and the shop offers a monthly wine club, monthly tasting event and wine appreciation classes. In this newer location Rob and Michelle also plan to operate a micro-winery for small-batch wines. The vineyard also carries fine cigars, gourmet Wisconsin chocolates, wine crackers, cheese from Jim's Cheese Pantry in Waterloo, Wisconsin, wine accessories, gift baskets, and organic wines and foods. Attractive displays show off all the products.
