Dequindre Cut GreenWay

Editor's Review
The Dequindre Cut GreenWay is yet another sign of great things to come for downtown Detroit. This path is a success story: Naysayers claimed it wouldn't be safe and no one would use it, but people started using it before it was finished! With separate lanes for bikes and pedestrians, it runs 25 feet below the street surface. The first section, which runs from Woodbridge north to Gratiot, opened in May 2009 and the three-block length from Woodbridge to the Riverwalk at Milliken State Park opened in the summer of 2010. Plans to extend the path from Gratiot to Mack Avenue are still in the works, but once it's complete the Dequindre Cut will connect the RiverWalk and the Eastern Market.
