Red Maple Inn

Editor's Review
You cannot go wrong by staying at the Red Maple Inn in Burton, Ohio. Owners Gordon and Evie Safran have created an upscale but unpretentious inn that not only offers lovely accommodations but also excellent value (about $135 on weeknights and $175 on weekends during summer and fall when the northeast Ohio countryside is a popular visitor destination). With only 17 guest rooms and one guest suite, the inn combines the luxurious touches of a fine boutique hotel with the warmth and charm of a country bed-and-breakfast. Outfitted with traditional American furniture custom-made by Amish craftsmen, each room has distinctive decor and an en suite bathroom featuring a Jacuzzi tub. Many rooms have fireplaces and balconies that afford fine views of the countryside or the historic buildings of Century Village, an outdoor museum adjoining the spacious property. Other amenities include a chocolates on your pillow, plush terry bathrobes, a private putting green, and a game/fitness room with ping pong and pool tables as well as exercise equipment. Fresh-baked cookies are always available at the front desk, and Monday through Saturday afternoons, guests enjoy complimentary wine and cheese by the wood-burning fireplace in gathering room. The inn's hearty breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs and homemade granola, and on select Friday nights, you also can sit down to one of the inn's family-style Amish dinners ($24 per person; reservation required).
