Editor's Review

Blazin Bills is a fun restaurant that serves outstanding barbecue.

Nothing about Blazin Bills is subtle. It's a big, independently owned restaurant; it has a huge following; and it serves platters of barbecued ribs and chicken. A casual restaurant with a kick-back and relax atmosphere, Blazin Bills is in rural Geauga County, Ohio, about 40 miles east of Cleveland. On weekends, it's usually crowded with locals -- ranging from families with young children to Amish folks -- and if you have to wait for a table, you can grab a stool and nosh on buffalo wings or stuffed potato wings at the bar. Barbecue is the specialty on teh varied menu. Fall-off-the bone slabs of pork and beef ribs are slathered in tangy, tomato-based barbecue sauce, and the perfectly cooked barbecue chicken has crispy skin and tender, succulent meat. Prices are moderate, but your best bet is ordering one of the dinners ($20.50 for a full slab of ribs, $17.95 for a whole chicken). Dinners come with a small loaf of fresh bread and your choice of two sides. What to pick? Our favorites are the homemade coleslaw, which has coarse-cut veggies and a hint of horseradish, and the baked beans, a marvelous medley of kidney, navy and butter beans in a rich, slightly sweet tomato sauce.
