Nobody knows more about maple specialty foods than Richards Maple Products.
When a food company has taken first prize several times at the Ohio State Fair, you just know it makes great things to eat. The blue ribbons displayed at Richard's Maple Products reveal a heritage of quality that began in 1910 when Will and Rena Richards began making maple syrup on a Geauga County farm. Their syrup was so popular that when the Richards moved to Chardon, Ohio, they turned a corner of their little house on US-6 into a shop. A century later, that house is now both the factory and retail store for Richards Maple Products, and members of the Richards family sell an incredible variety of foods that are made exclusively with Geauga County maple syrup. The woods behind the store still have a sugarhouse and the maple trees the family taps during sugaring season. The store is also a hub on the March Maple Madness driving tour, and if you visit Richards' sugarhouse during the tour, you may find a family member handing out hot dogs cooked in a pot of sweet maple sap. The store is a unique shopping experience. It's filled floor-to-ceiling with all things maple: syrup, granulated sugar, spread, candies, snacks, BBQ sauce and mustard. Richards even carries maple-coated dog treats and horse biscuits.
