Editor's Review

This tiny bakery lives up to its name, selling homey cookie-jar treats from a cozy Main Street storefront.
You'll smell Grandma's Cookies long before you walk in the door -- a heady, sugary, buttery perfume hangs in the air outside the tiny bakery. It's just like the smell that wafts from the oven when you make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. And that's the whole point here. This bakery, which opened in 1976, doesn't try to be fancy or innovative. They just bake soft, sweet old-fashioned cookies from scratch: snickerdoodles, peanut butter, oatmeal-raisin, chocolate chip, all sold for less than a dollar. They sell some cupcakes, too, but not those new-fangled kinds with bacon crumbles or crystallized ginger. Just your basic birthday-cake flavors here. There are two booths where you can sit and munch your cookie beneath a portrait of Grandma, but most people eat their treats while walking down Main Street or fill a box to take home.
