You'll find amazing baked goods, pretty flowers, pony rides and handmade toys here.
Located along State-577 between Berlin and Charm, Hershberger's beckons travelers with wagons filled with flats of flowers, planters brimming with annuals, ponies ready for rides and the promise of delicious baked goods inside. The selection here is among the widest we saw in all of Amish Country. You'll find 130 kinds of jams and jellies, 16 kinds of fry pies (hand-held predecessors to a much-inferior Hostess fruit pie), 26 varieties of fruit pies, 27 kinds of noodles, plus brown eggs, maple syrup, prepared sandwiches in a deli case, palm-size cookies, whoopie pies and more. It seems impossible to leave without something. At least, it was for us. The building next door, also part of Hershberger's, was full of handmade wooden toys ideal for preschoolers--trains, horses and buggies, airplanes and more. It's worth a stop over there after you've let the little ones take $3 pony rides in the nearby tent. And in the fall, Hershberger's offers pick-your-own pumpkins.
