Eddy Street Commons is a hip, urban shopping and residential area located a stone's throw from Notre Dame.
Hanging out at the new Eddy Street Commons would make any student long for at least a five-year plan with its modern architecture, polished streetscape, and variety of shopping and dining options all set to pop songs piped throughout. Plus, it's located just across the street from the Notre Dame campus and stadium. We came for the shopping. Parking was oh-so-easy, either on the street or in the garage (free for 2 hours and that's plenty of time to explore and snack). Outpost Sports features North Face and Ugg brands. The Hammes Bookstore and Cafe offers everything Irish, plus a great spot to grab a snack or coffee. Camellia Cosmetics carries lines like Bare Minerals and Paula Dorf, plus offers a signature brow sculpting service. Nicholas J Salon and Spa is a full-service Aveda salon. Then, there's the food. New offerings are on the way, but Chipotle Mexican Grill, Kildares Irish Pub, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Kilwin's Chocolates and Ice Cream and Jamba Juice have opened. The Mark Dine and Tap recently opened as the most upscale offering. Sister to the popular Uptown Kitchen in Granger, the Mark offers everything from white-tablecloth dining to phone-ahead nachos, including delicious bakery offerings at the counter. Visitors can stay at the Eddy Street Commons' own Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott, offering 119 guest rooms and suites with rates from $129.95, but be sure to reserve well in advance for football games (and expect to pay more).
