Pink's the thing at this fun restaurant and bar -- from the pink-stained oak-top bar to the pink leather barstools and pink polo shirts on the servers. As the primary restaurant at downtown Mackinac Island's Chippewa Hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily and a late night menu is in place until 2 a.m. There's also an outside dining area and bar with a 25-person hot tub! This place gets its party bar reputation honestly. But the unexpected delight here is the food. It's excellent. With an emphasis on quality ingredients, the unpretentious menu features a nice roster of soups, salads, sandwiches and dinner entrees. A reputation for the signature smoked whitefish dip ($11) is well-earned; the smoky fish flavor is nicely tempered by cream cheese and garlic, and crispy baked pita chips bring the crunch. Also notable was the turkey club sandwich. It features honey-roasted turkey and smoked bacon with fresh-tasting tomato and lettuce piled on earthy multigrain bread, and it's smothered with a tart sun-dried tomato, avocado and basil mayonnaise ($11). There's an impressive selection of beers on tap, as well as an extensive cocktail menu. Large-screen TVs throughout the bar compete with live entertainment to keep the energy level on high. Breakfast dishes are priced from $7 to $12, lunch from $9 to $14 and dinner entrees from $18 to $34.
