New in 2010, this full-service spa across the street from the Rough Rider Hotel offers plenty of pampering for women, menand horses!
The menu of services at this new spa is tempting to even the toughest cowboy. In addition to haircuts ($25), blowouts and mani/pedis ($60), Cedar Canyon Spa offers the Cowboy Classic scalp massage (a blend of warm avocado, lime blossom and ginger extracts, $30), traditional massages (starting at $40 for 30 minutes), hydrotherapies and body treatments. Body wraps include the Little Missouri Mud Wrap, the Badlands Glacial Clay and Seaweed Wrap, the Campfire Coffee and Chocolate Cream Wrap, and a Luscious Lavender Wrap ($80 each). Hydrotherapies in a claw-foot tub feel extraordinarily decadent for this setting -- not that we mind. Patrons can immerse themselves in chocolate and whole milk in the Hoot's Chocolate Milk Bath; soak in milk, honey, lavender oil, rose and sage in the Maddie's Medley Bath; and energize their senses in the Peppermint-Ginger Plunge Bath ($40 each). Special packages designed for golfers run $115, and a full day's worth of pampering, including lunch and a gift, are $349. Plenty of Medora visitors bring their horses to explore the Maah Daah Hey Trail, and now, they can schedule their mounts for equine massages courtesy of Cedar Canyon Spa. A 90-minute head-to-tail massage runs $100. This new business, not run by the Theodore Roosevelt Foundation, is a welcome complement to the Rough Rider Hotel across the street and plans to stay open year-round.
