Royal blue walls, solid oak furniture and dozens of framed black-and-white photographs capturing Bismarck's past all exude a cool vibe at this downtown bar and grill. Peacock Alley has 17 beers on tap, and is known for its extensive martini list as well. Local ingredients flavor a menu that in the summer of 2010 was in the process of changing. Our caramelized onion chicken wrap came studded with chopped walnuts and crumbled blue cheese ($7.95), and we loved the yin and yang complement of sweet caramelized onions against the tangy blue cheese. The thick-sliced crunchy onion rings on the side were absolutely worth the $1 up charge. But really, when it comes to value, you won't find a better one in town than the daily two for $15 lunchtime deal at Peacock Alley: two entrees and two desserts for $15. A small stage hangs over the bar, and patrons can take in live jazz on Thursday evenings. A dinner menu is pricier, but longtime patrons here know they're in capable hands and splurge on special-occasion meals.
