If you're looking for respite after a long day of all the shopping, dining and recreation Door County has to offer, you'll find it at the Juniper Inn. The bed-and-breakfast opened in 1995, with four rooms that boast queen-size beds, satellite TV, DVD players, wireless Internet and views of the surrounding trees and bucolic juniper meadow. (One caveat for addicted surfers: You may find the Wi-Fi a bit slow.) The nicest options, the Evergreen and Sunflower rooms, offer gas fireplaces, private balconies and whirlpool tubs, too. The two-story home is just minutes away from all the stuff to do in nearby Fish Creek, Ephraim and Sister Bay, but it's well off the main drag, so you don't need to worry about anything disturbing your sleep. Owner Mark Sneen has dedicated himself to "totally catering to guests," and he carries out his mission with exacting care. Breakfast items such as muffins, granola and fruit soup are homemade, and he's happy to serve as a concierge during the morning meal, offering advice to newcomers to the area. He also provides an expansive collection of books to enjoy in the tasteful living room, as well as a DVD library, and as a treat will leave a nice dollop of cream sherry in a decanter in your room. Oh, and feel free to bring bikes along for your visit, as the road outside is great for riding. Rates from $130 (May 15 Oct. 31) or $105 (Nov. 1 May 14).
