Hidden in a busy commercial area, the 47-acre Green Bay Botanical Garden offers visitors a wonderful surprise. Winding paths curve past rose gardens, color gardens, perennial gardens, an English cottage garden and a Wisconsin woodland garden, to name a few.

The brightly colored Children's Garden has the requisite tower overlooking a maze (you can climb up and down a tube slide), a sensory garden, a small growing area named Mr. McGregor's Garden and an area with nature-theme puzzles. A floral sundial stands in one corner, and a stretch along the back offers topiaries kids can water with colorful cans.

Along with plants, look for interesting structures such as an early Grecian gazebo and a contemporary sculpture in the Vietnam Veterans' Garden. Additions in recent years include the King Shade Garden, a hosta and shade perennial glen with a stream and (fake) spring house ruin; and the Jenquine Overlook Garden of native plantings that affords views of the formal plantings from an opening in the woods.
 

Select Thursday evenings in July and August feature outdoor concerts free with admission, when you can find a small selection of food and beverages sold on-site.
