Named for Cleveland’s geographical location, latitude 41 degrees north, this casual spot does breakfast well. The standout deal is the cheekily named Menage a Trois— two eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast and coffee for a ridiculously well-priced $4.95. (A dollar more nets you two additional sides.) On the sweet side: Kick*ss French Toast ($7) and the Buttermilk Griddle Cakes with various add-in toppings ($6 to $7.50) do not disappoint. Healthier, but no less yummy, is the specialty Iced Protein Drink, a smoothie made with low-fat yogurt, milk, whey protein powder and tropical fruit. Whatever you choose, make sure to get a taste of the house butter blended with honey, cinnamon and syrup.
The menu boasts "service with a latitude attitude," which means it's quick, friendly and attentive. It also means you'll have to order at the counter, seat yourself and get your own coffee or water.
In addition to the great food, each table is cleverly decoupaged with a map and related paraphernalia from places along the same latitudinal line as Cleveland, making for a scrapbook-meets-atlas feel. The airy dining room has plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows, and a lounge area near the front counter completes the laid-back scene with cozy couches and a well-stocked bookshelf. With the comfortable atmosphere and free Wi-Fi, Latitude 41˚n customers get coffee shop ambience with a restaurant-quality dining experience.
