Set on the fifth floor of downtown Holland's CityFlats Hotel, CityVu Bistro takes its name from its rooftop location. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow customers picturesque views of Holland's historic downtown shopping district, nearby Windmill Island and Windows on the Waterfront, a nature preserve and park bordering the Black River and Lake Macatawa.
CityVu specializes in flatbreads, each made with 100-percent whole wheat stone-ground flour from DeZwaan, the 18th-century Dutch windmill diners glimpse through the dining room windows. Each flatbread takes its name from an international array of cities: the Pittsburgh ($14) features blackened sirloin and blue cheese “fondue”; the Roma ($11) has fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella; and the Parisian ($12) highlights a wild mushroom ragout and boursin cheese. Other entrees include steak, seafood and pasta selections in the $10 to $20 range, all made with local, seasonal ingredients whenever possible. To wash it all down, CityVu pours 26 wines by the glass.
At lunchtime on weekdays, CityVu offers a Flat Fee meal option includes unlimited soup, salad and flatbreads for $7.99.
