Roscoe Hillside Cabins' seven log structures are outfitted with modern conveniences, making this a cabin adventure minus the “roughing it” part.
Cabin No.7, nicknamed the Cabin in the Woods, sits among the trees on top of a steep hill overlooking a country road. It's difficult to find, but in some ways, that enhances the sense of solitude. This cabin features a large wraparound deck with handmade hickory-stick porch furniture, a gas grill and, on an adjacent deck, a hot tub big enough to seat six. Inside, guests can spread out to enjoy a huge kitchen, a master bedroom with queen-size sleigh bed, a bunk room, a sitting room and a bathroom. All Roscoe Hillside Cabins are built to resemble authentic log cabins with exposed beams, hardwood floors and rustic touches throughout. At the same time, high-end amenities like 52-inch flat-screen TVs with DVD players and satellite service, modern bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens with pristine farm sinks create an atmosphere of luxury.
The scenery is spectacular, too. Visitors can head out to the deck with their morning coffee, watch as the mist burns off the woods and listen to the birdsong. Watch out—you might even get buzzed by a hummingbird! In-season rates start at $170 a night; discounts are available for longer stays.
