Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

Editor's Review
We bet you won't be able to stop your jaw from dropping as you approach, much less step inside, the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. We know we couldn't! Opened fall 2011, this stunning piece of architecture has instantly become a landmark in the Kansas City skyline. Inside, a stunning, polished-limestone-clad lobby offers a panoramic view of the city through the all-glass facade. And two performance venues provide a viewing and listening experience for musical and theatrical productions, bar none. The city's three major artistic companies -- the Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Ballet, and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City -- call the Kauffman Center home during their annual fall-winter-spring seasons. In addition, a wealth of theatrical productions, including traveling Broadway shows, and musical concerts fill the schedule year-round. The calendar of events on the website only indicates performances for which tickets are on sale. Check the corresponding websites for the resident performing companies, as well as theater organizations, such as Broadway Across America, for additional calendar information.
