This wildlife-theme bar-restaurant offers fine soups, burgers, pizzas, steak and more.
Ginger's doesn't give much away from its exterior. The tan, corner building in downtown Horicon is rather plain, sporting small windows lit by beer signs. When you turn the corner, you'll see the entrance, which has a sandwich board in front announcing the day's special. But there are no windows, so you have no idea what's inside. As it turns out, the interior is neat and tidy, and decorated along a North Woods/wildlife theme, with pine doors, wainscoting and pine cone decorations. The walls are hand-painted and depict a variety of wildlife such as a wolf, bald eagle and water fowl. Ginger's menu is fairly extensive, with a large selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps, plus heartier entrees like sirloin, walleye and garlic chicken fettuccine. Price points are reasonable, with the former running about $6-$10 and the latter roughly $13-$20. There are some fun appetizers, like deep-fried pickles and crab Rangoon, but nothing tastes astounding or particularly memorable. Still, for a small town, this is a fine spot for a pleasant lunch or dinner.
