The biggest draw at Liberty House is the homemade gelato, served up old-school behind a rounded, glass-encased display. There's also organic, fair-trade coffee, gourmet sandwiches, soups, and salads, bakery items, and brick-oven pizza baked fresh. The atmosphere is fun and nostalgic and feels a bit like walking into a Pottery Barn catalog. The hardwood floors and white trim gleam, the fireplace and cozy couch beckons, and the old-fashioned soda fountain-style bar begs for ordering a milkshake and sharing it with your sweetie. There's a special section in back with toys and games for kids. The only odd thing about this place is its location, a couple miles from downtown Stillwater within a faux-historic housing development that feels more like a movie set than a genuine neighborhood. If you feel like a short drive it's not a bad place to spend an hour, but you won't stumble upon it while walking the streets of Stillwater.
