Sample UP pasties at this bakery's old-time lunch counter in Wakefield, south of the Porkies.
You don't go to Michigan's UP without eating pasties. And if you're driving by Wakefield, you don't keep going without stopping for one of Randall's pasties. The old brown building sits a few blocks off the main highway. Diners sit at a Formica lunch counter to savor Cornish pasties bursting with meat and potatoes. The buttery, flaky crust and lightly spiced filling are so good you don't need gravy. That's saying something with pasties. But we still enjoyed a little ketchup on ours. Locals also stop in for daily doughnuts at Randall, the only bakery in this UP town.
