It's only fitting that the town of Stockholm has a bona-fide Swedish butik.
Ingebretsen's is well-known in Minneapolis, where the third-generation family business serves as a market and meeting place for Swedish immigrants and descendents. Its Stockholm store also celebrates Swedish traditions, tastes and styles. Its goods include handwoven textiles, gorgeous hand-blown glasswork, cookware, collectibles, books and music--all from Sweden, of course. On weekends, you can pick up Swedish breads, rolls and other baked goods delivered fresh from the Jenny Lind bakery in nearby Red Wing, Minnesota. The stone building itself is worth a look. It dates back to the original settlement of the village, built in 1878 by Swedish immigrant and town founder Eric Petersen. When the current owners bought the building in 2002, it had been abandoned for several years.
