CoHo is not your typical small town cafe. That much is clear from the moment you take your place in line. As you wait your turn to order, survey the dining room, with sage-color walls, lots of windows and a high-pitched blond wood ceiling. There’s sunny outdoor deck seating bordered by trees as well as the restaurant parking lot right along Scenic Highway 61. The place is actually part of Bluefin Bay Resort, but you wouldn’t guess so by the way it sits roadside, accessible to all.
A quick scan of the menu and the variety of fresh breads behind the counter confirms your initial suspicion. Designer breakfasts include salmon lox and granola pancakes, lunches spotlight sandwiches built atop house-baked bread, and dinner brings pastas including walleye orzo. Pizzas, available from 11 a.m. for eat-in, take-out or take-and-bake, include spicy shrimp, Ranch chicken and Call of the Wild, topped in a mix of mushrooms, cheeses and locally made wild rice sausage.
Then there are the sweets—this is a bakery, after all. Scones, caramel croissants and variety of Danish sell out so quickly that people secure their favorites by calling in orders a day in advance. There are always cheesecakes, tortes and other fine desserts on hand. A full range of espresso drinks, local brews and wines by the glass seal the deal. No, this is not your typical small town cafe. And we love it.
