Editor's Review

The historic Eldridge Hotel in downtown Lawrence has 48 restored suites, a restaurant, nail spa and martini bar.

For a historic Kansas stay choose The Eldridge Hotel where Clyde stayed to stake out the Teller's Bank across the street, his first bank robbery. Packages, such as the Bonnie and Clyde party package, are available at this luxury hotel with a long Lawrence history. A multimillion dollar renovation in the 2005 restored The Eldridge to its original 1800s grandeur while updating its restaurants, nail spa and guest services. The old-world guest rooms appointed with luxe silk-cotton blend linens have spacious bathrooms with multiple shower jets (sometimes pressure is poor). The surroundings are beautiful and the staff polite and efficient, the internet service operated at glacial speed during our stay. The Eldridge on Massachusetts Street (a good shopping and dining strip) and Lawrence's newest hotel The Oread atop the hill amidst Kansas University campus are sister properties.
