Despite recent renovations, this former Holiday Inn still feels dated, which isn't appealing unless you crave the kind of nostalgic hotel experience you might have had as a kid during family vacations. 

The biggest attraction here is the gimmicky Route 66 decor. Miniature cars and state flags hang from the ceilings in the lobby and hallways; old highway and business signs line the walls. Gas pumps and motorcycles complete the road-trippy scene. The theme continues into the restaurant, appropriately called the Filling Station, where guests load up on basic breakfast standards like eggs, pancakes and sausages.

The rooms are serviceable, but some have windows that strangely face into the interior hallway. Rates run $72 to $165.
