This 19th century hotel offers adequate rooms with an old-fashioned feel, plus a good restaurant.
Built in 1840, this hotel feels like a B&B, with just 8 bedrooms upstairs and lots of narrow spaces. The main floor is a labyrinth of nooks and dining rooms, a seemingly endless series of eating spaces for the crowds who come during Nauvoo's busy season. It's all done up in frilly wallpaper. Upstairs, the rooms have the same antique sensibility as the rest of the place, but there are modern amenities, such as free wireless Internet access and cable TV, too. Because there's so little room to move, older or handicapped guests may not feel comfortable here. Rates start at $65 or so, with the price a bit higher between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The main offering at the restaurant is the dinner buffet, which offers numerous entres and a wide selection of potato dishes, veggies and bread, as well as a full salad bar with all the fixings. Although the Mormons who compose most of Nauvoo's population aren't generally drinkers, you can get a beer, glass of wine or cocktail here. It's a good place to grab a bite.
