Eugene T. Mahoney State Park

Editor's Review
This 690-acre park lies in the forested bluffs along the Platte River between Lincoln and Omaha. As one of the Midwest's best-known destination parks, it offers an aquatic center, mini golf, horseback trail rides, a theater and more. A small fishing pond and pedal-boat rides are perfect for younger kids. In winter, the park offers ice fishing, ice skating in a covered outdoor pavilion and a lighted sledding/toboggan hill. The park's accommodations include motel-style rooms in the large Peter Kiewit Lodge and a variety of sizes of cabins scattered throughout the park. RV campers have their pick of 149 paved modern campground sites (from $20). The lodge offers a full restaurant with great views of the Platte River Valley. The park is conveniently located on Interstate-80 near several other attractions including the impressive Strategic Air & Space Museum, the Simmons' Wildlife Safari and the well-respected Quarry Oaks golf course. Admission charged.
