Tower Minnesota 55790United States
Owned by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and operated on reservation land, this casino resort offers gaming, golf and accommodations from luxury to RV.
The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa owns and operates Fortune Bay, which seems to offer most anything you could want in a casino resort: two-story casino with slots, blackjack, poker and high-stakes bingo; luxury hotel; 18-hole golf course; full-service marina; RV park; conference and banquet center; and heritage center. It's located in the Vermilion sector of the Bois Forte reservation, which was established via treaty with the United States in 1854. Even if you're not crazy about casino complexes, there's much to like here. It really just felt to us like a big, classy resort. A recent expansion offers brand-new nice rooms with wireless Internet access and cable TV; suites have either a whirlpool or fireplace and views of Lake Vermilion. Indoor amenities include the usual heated pool, children's pool, whirlpool, sauna and exercise room and a video arcade. Outdoors, get your fresh air while boating, canoeing, fishing, playing games, walking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Take your choice from five dining and bar options: Tamarack Dining Room, Wilderness Bar and Grill (with a view of Lake Vermilion), Baystreet Deli, Tamarack Lobby Lounge and North Star Bar. Fortune Bay is a nice option in the area for anyone who's not into the vintage-cabin scene. Rooms start at about $109.
