MetroCentre is the place to go in Rockford for hockey, monster trucks and arena rock. Built in 1981, the sports arena and concert venue underwent $23 million in renovations and expansion in 2007 and 2008, gaining a state-of-the-art video scoreboard, club boxes, a club lounge and other amenities. It's the home of the Rockford IceHogs, an American Hockey League team affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks. The Rock River Raptors indoor football team and the Rockford Rampage indoor soccer team also play here. Recent concerts at MetroCentre include Brad Paisley, Kelly Clarkson, Toby Keith, Mtley Cre, Blue Man Group and Larry the Cable Guy. Early sellouts are not uncommon.
